Cobras Just Seven Shots Back Heading Into Final Round of SAC Women's Golf Championship

HICKORY, N.C. – The Coker College women's golf team will head into the final round of the South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship in fifth-place after they carded 306 (+18) in the second round on Monday (Apr. 8). The Cobras improved their score by four strokes after shooting 310 (+22) as a team in the opening round. 

Individually, Kelli Smith and Alyssa Campbell lead the way as they sit in a tie for ninth after they both fired off scores of 75 (+3) in the round. Smith, who was just named the Elite 20 Award winner for women's golf, came out firing as she made recorded a 33 (-3) in the first nine holes and was tied for the lead before dropping a few strokes on a tough final stretch. Alicia Fajardo currently sits in a tie for 16thafter putting up a 78 (+6) for the day. Bella Harris struggled to find her groove on a tough course as she carded an 83 (+11) to put her in a tie for 37thand Ana Orlov ended the day in a tie for 43rdafter her 78 (+6).

The Cobras will look to close strong in the final round of the SAC Women's Golf Championship on Tuesday (Apr. 9) as they trail the leaders, Anderson, by just seven strokes.
