How It Happened
It was a battle early on, with the Trojans and Cobras trading buckets. Dasia Ferguson hit a smooth mid-range pull-up in the first quarter to take the lead at 6-5 as part of this back-and-forth between the teams. Tied at 8-8, the Trojans went on an 8-0 run to take the lead at 16-8. The run was stopped by a pull-up by Tillman to make this 16-10.
Then, down, 22-14, Tillman hit another big shot; this time a three to bring it within five at 22-17. After Coker brought it close, the Trojans went on a 16-0 run to make it 38-17. After a layup by Tillman brought it within eighteen, the score was 39-21 headed to the halftime break.
The third quarter brought some energy back to the Cobras, coming out hot from the locker room. A bucket and then a couple of free throws by Mya Wasswa brought this to 39-26. Anderson brought it back to a sixteen-point lead at 48-32, but that's when the Cobras kicked it into another gear. Starting with a jumper by Mariah Mitchem and ending with a pair of free throws by Courtney Taylor, the Cobras found themselves within seven at 51-44 heading into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter was another back-and-forth period of play. Anderson had extended their lead back to double digits, but Coker made a late push. A great move by Thompson to get a layup and a big three by Tillman put this one back to five, but the Trojans sealed this at the free-throw line and walked out with the six-point win to claim the postseason title.
