How It Happened:
The first half started with Wingate coming out hot, blazing to a 7-2 lead. The Cobras, however, had other ideas on how they wanted this quarter to go. After making it 7-4, Knight hit a huge three to tie the game at 7-7, and it was all Cobras from there. They ended the quarter on a 10-0 run and led 12-7 heading into the second quarter.
A dominant second quarter ensued, with the Cobras holding the Bulldogs to just 6 points on the quarter. Janay Legagneur got the scoring going in the period with a second-chance bucket, followed by a Mariah Mitchem jumper to cap off a 14-0 total scoring run that had the Cobras up 16-7. The largest lead of the quarter came at the end off a Wasswa shot that had the Cobras up 30-13 headed to the halftime break.
It was all Cobras all day long to start the third period, rattling off another run that had them up 42-20 in the period. That run started on a Knight three and ended on a Thompson free throw, and the Cobras had their largest lead of the night. The Bulldogs started to chip away heading into the fourth quarter, shortening what was a twenty-point lead at the quarter break to just eleven with under three minutes to be played. The Cobras came alive at the end and sank clutch free throws to keep this one a double-digit game when it was all said and done, and the Cobras are on to the SAC Final with a 58-43 win!
