How It Happened:
Cobras started hot, jumping to a 7-0 early lead. Within the first minute of the contest, the Cobras had taken a 5-0 lead off of a lay-up by Wasswa and a quick three by Tillman. Wasswa capped off the run with another lay-up shortly after. Emory & Henry had quite the answer, running off a seven-point run of their own to tie the contest. They continued to turn on the jets, extending their run to 14 unanswered points to lead 14-7 before a Mariah Mitchem made lay-up stopped the run.
The Cobras started to dig deep and claw their way back in this one, with a Mitchem jumper bringing them within one at 17-16 before Knight hit a mid-range to take their first lead since the beginning of the period. A made three by the Wasps had the Cobras down eight at 20-18 heading into the second quarter.
The second quarter started off slow for both teams but the Cobras were able to turn it into a big period for themselves. A Cayanna Stanley three-pointer at the 7:48 mark was the first bucket for either team, taking the lead for Coker at 21-20. After Emory & Henry retook the lead at 25-24, the Cobras went on a 16-3 run to create major separation that was capped off by a Tillman free throw. A late bucket by the Wasps had the Cobras up nine at 40-31 at halftime.
It was a stellar second half for the Cobras, creating even more separation early in the third quarter. A converted and-one lay-up by Tillman made this a sixteen-point game with almost eight minutes still to be played in the period. Tillman did her job to close the quarter as well, making two free throws to extend their lead to nineteen at 60-41 going into the final quarter.
This lead continued to build early in the fourth quarter with a made three from Courtney Taylor starting a 16-2 run. Kristynn Knight converted an and-one tough lay-up through traffic to make it a thirty-point game, and then Wasswa ended the run on a made lay-up. Five minutes in, the benches started to empty and the Cobras walked away with an 88-59 win over the Wasps
