How It Happened:
UVA-Wise didn't outscore Coker in a single quarter throughout the entire game, which is only the third time that that's occurred this year. It was an end-to-end great game for the Cobras, starting off with Mya Wasswa hitting two big threes in the first quarter to help build the cushion. She had eight of the first ten points of the game for Coker, finishing with 20 as the game's second-leading scorer.
The game's leading scorer? Well, if you've tuned in for the two games prior to this one, you could guess who it was. Shawnteanna Tillman scored 22, and she truly got going in the second period. Nine of her 22 came in the period as she got more aggressive in her play, putting her head down on the break and going full-speed ahead where no one could stop her.
The foot was never taken off the gas, as the Cobras continued to build their lead to dominate in every aspect of the game. Seeing extended time, Diamond Jackson scored seven of her nine points in the second half. Bench players for the Cobras saw extended time, with Samantha Meyers scoring her first career points on a corner three that was nothing but net to end the game. Coker walked out of this one unscathed and notched another one in the win column.
Notables
A SAC Player of the Week candidate this week, Tillman had 28 and 22 in wins over Newberry and UVA-Wise, respectively. She has led the Cobras in a 2-0 week and they will look to continue to climb the national rankings. It is now a ten-game win streak for the team, their first double-digit win streak in program history. And yes, they are STILL undefeated in 2025. It has been a phenomenal season for Coach Melissa DeVore and her squad, and they look to only just be getting started.
