WOMEN'S BASKETBALL STARTS 2025 OFF HOT, DOWNS #15 CARSON-NEWMAN
Hartsville, SC - What an outing to open up the 2025 home slate for Coker Women's Basketball as the Cobras down the 15th-ranked Carson-Newman Eagles by a final score of 71-65.
The first half was a tightly contested one, with neither team truly separating themselves. Coker found themselves on the right side at the halftime break, clinging to a 37-34 lead.
The Cobras came out hot in the third period of play, quickly building a double-digit lead that was up to a 13-point lead at one point. Throughout the rest of the game, Coker was able to use that cushion to put this one away and win the touted Top-25 match-up.
Mya Wasswa had her second-straight 21-point game while also recording 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Also in double figures were Dasia Ferguson (17 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block) and Kristynn Knight (season-high 14 points, 2 assists, 2 steals).
The Cobras don't play a weekday game this coming week and will resume play this Saturday (January 11th) on the road against Lincoln Memorial. Tip-off for that contest will be at 2:00 PM ET.
