WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AVENGES LAST YEAR'S SAC QUARTERFINAL LOSS AGAINST LENOIR-RHYNE
Hickory, SC - Exactly 288 days ago, the seventh-seeded Cobras were upended in a tight-knit 62-57 contest in the SAC Quarterfinals by none other than the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears. Today, the Cobras avenged that loss in Hickory, taking care of the Bears in a 71-65 contest.
LR came out hot right out of the gate while the Cobras struggled on the offensive side of the ball in the first quarter. Falling down six heading into the second period of play, the Cobras played a much better offensive quarter and had the Bears within four at halftime.
The second half was all Cobras, outscoring the Bears by ten in the half to take the 71-65 victory on the road. Shawnteanna Tillman was the leading scorer for the Cobras with 15 points to go along with 3 steals. Others in double figures include Mya Wasswa (12), Kristynn Knight (11), and Mariah Mitchem (10).
The Cobras are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Converse for some non-conference winter break action. Scheduled tip-off for that contest is currently at 2:00 PM ET
