WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SUFFERS FIRST LOSS OF SEASON TO TROJANS
Anderson, SC - Undefeated no more, the Cobras suffer their first loss of the season at the hands of the Anderson University Trojans.
The Cobras trailed for nearly the entirety of the contest but battled in the fourth quarter to claim the lead. In a back-and-forth contest, the Cobras found themselves on the wrong end of the stick when the final whistle blew and fell 81-78.
The Trojans' 5-6 record is a very deceiving one, as for the first half of the season they were missing two of their key pieces, one of which earned All-American honors in previous years. In their last four contests, they are 3-1 with a win over #6 Carson-Newman, showing lately that they are the same team that didn't leave the top five of the regional rankings last season.
Tonight's contest was Dasia Ferguson's third straight game with 20 points and, yet again, was 100% from the charity stripe (8-8). Others in double figures included Shawnteanna Tillman (17 points, 5 rebounds, 7-7 FT), Mya Wasswa (11 points, 1 block), and Mariah Mitchem (10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals).
The Cobras will have a chance to get back in the win column this Saturday at home against Tusculum, with that contest currently scheduled for a 3:00 PM ET tip-off.
