WOMEN'S BASKETBALL REMAINS UNDEFEATED, DEFEATS MARS HILL AT HOME
Hartsville, SC - The Cobras are STILL undefeated, fighting tooth and nail to take down the Lions of Mars Hill at home today.
The first quarter was one to forget for the Cobras, as they had their lowest-scoring period this year with only nine. Trailing 17-9 heading into the second quarter, they transitioned into what looked like a completely different team on the court. They went from having their lowest total on the year to their highest with 23 scored in the period. A last-second lay-up gave Coker a 32-31 lead heading into the halftime break.
The third quarter was a battle through and through. The two teams traded buckets and stops and neither could gain much separation from each other, with the score being 46-44 in favor of the Cobras heading into the final period of play.
The final quarter proved to be the best one yet for Coker, holding the Lions to just eleven points with active defense and diving for loose balls. They went on a run and finished with 19 in the period, taking the final score of 65-55 away from Mars Hill.
Dasia Ferguson was on fire from the charity stripe in this one, finishing 12-12 from the line and recording her second 20-point game in a row. She has also been in double figures in all but one game this season (8 against Francis Marion) and had three steals and a block to round off her stat line. Shawnteanna Tillman also was in double figures, recording 15 points to go along with 5 steals and 4 rebounds.
The Cobras' next stop will be on the road on Wednesday as they travel to Anderson to take on the Trojans. The tip-off for that game is scheduled for 5:30 PM ET.
