WBB HAS GREAT SHOWING IN EXHIBITION AGAINST DI COASTAL CAROLINA
Conway, SC - For a stretch of this contest, it truly looked as if the Cobras had the capability of taking home a victory on the road against a Division I opponent. At the end of the night, however, it was the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina coming away with the 82-63 victory.
The Cobras led 16-15 after one period of play, which gave them hope of doing damage against an opponent that was 3-1 this season against Division 1 opponents. Coastal came out better in the second quarter, but it was still a five-point game heading into the break.
The main difference in this one was the third quarter where the Cobras were outscored 28-17 by the Chanticleers. They used that cushion to put the nail in the coffin during the fourth quarter to come away with the victory, their fifth of the season.
Leading the way in the scoring column for the Cobras was Kristynn Knight who scored more than double everyone else on the Coker bench combined with 13 points. Also in double figures for the Cobras were Kamari Thompson (double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds), Shawnteanna Tillman (10 points, 5 assists, team-high 2 steals), and Dasia Ferguson (10 points, 5-9 from the field).
Luckily for the Cobras, this game will not count against their record as all contests with Division I opponents count as exhibition games. They will come back to the DeLoach Center to protect their still-unbeaten record on Saturday where they will take on the Saints of Limestone. The tip-off for that contest is scheduled for 2:00 PM ET.
