WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MOVES TO 3-0, GRABS WIN OVER WINGATE IN HOME OPENER

Hartsville, SC - Your Coker women's basketball team is off to a 3-0 start, holding off the Bulldogs of Wingate for a 63-57 victory in their home opener.

Trailing by one at halftime (26-27), the Cobras came out scorching in the third quarter. In that period alone, Coker outscored Wingate 22-8 and held a 17-point lead at one point in time.

Then, Wingate started to chip away at the lead slowly but surely. With just 16 seconds remaining in the game, the Bulldogs had pulled within four to make this interesting. Luckily, the Cobras were able to put this game away at the charity stripe and pulled out a huge conference win to open the home slate.

Three Cobras put up double-digits in the scoring column in the form of Shawnteanna Tillman (19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals), Mya Wasswa (14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals), and Dasia Ferguson (10 points, 3 steals). Kamari Thompson led the way on the boards with a whopping 14.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to UVA-Wise to continue their conference slate. Tip-off for that contest will be at 2:00 PM ET.
