Cobras Drop Hard-Fought Overtime Contest to Trojans

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker College women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought overtime contest to the visiting Anderson University Trojans by a final score of 77-74 Saturday (Jan. 13) afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action. 

The Cobras took a 34-31 lead heading into half, thanks to an impressive performance from Hayley Kropp in the opening two quarters. Kropp knocked down back-to-back three-pointers and boasted a notable 4-4 mark from three-point range. In the second half of action, Coker leaned on Shay Jackson for an offensive spark. Jackson finished the second half shooting 5-6 from both the field and from beyond the three-point arch for a total 17 points in the third and fourth quarters of play. 

Jackson led the Cobras on the offensive end with a career-high and team-best 27 points, while adding five rebounds. Kropp trailed Jackson with 19 points and recorded three steals. On the defensive end, Hannah Stull collected a team-best eight rebounds, while Janea Williams made her presence known inside with a team-high five blocks. 

The Navy and Gold will be back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 17) when they host Wingate in conference play. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
