Cobras Host Mars Hill in Play 4 Kay Game Saturday

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker women's basketball will take on Mars Hill on Saturday (Feb. 18) in the team's Play 4 Kay game in support of breast cancer awareness. Video and live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The teams last met on Jan. 9 in Mars Hill with Coker coming away with the 76-58 road win. Iresha Cooper led all scorers with 21 in the game, while Caitland Considine chipped in 12. Shay Jackson poured in 11, Kendra Lambert added nine and five other Cobras made their mark on the scoresheet.

The Cobras last action came on Wednesday (Feb. 15) when they dropped a 75-62 contest at Wingate. Sydney Shull poured in a team-high 12, and Cooper added 11. Trai Johnson tallied eight, while Elizabeth Kincaid and Jackson each scored seven.

 On the year, Cooper is averaging 12.0 points per game, which is 18th-best in the league. The junior is also second in the South Atlantic conference in field goal percentage, shooting 53.9 percent from the floor.

The Lions come into the matchup 6-19 overall with a 4-15 mark in the SAC. Offensively, they are led by Paige Chavis, who pours in 14.2 points per game, which is tied for ninth in the league. Aliyah Farmer (11.1) and Madison Ervin (10.1) also average double figures for the Lions on the year.

 Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m. at Dan Schmotzer Court at the DeLoach Center. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students. Before the game starting at 1:00, there will be a reception for any breast cancer survivors to attend.
