Cobras Drop Non-Conference Contest at Augusta on Tuesday

AUGUSTA, GA.- Coker women's basketball fell to Augusta University 76-52 in non-conference action on Tuesday night (Nov. 29).

The Cobras played a back and forth first quarter, trailing 17-14 after the opening frame.  Coker was able to climb back and take the lead after an early 11-5 deficit, with a steal and breakaway layup from Raquel McArthur starting the run. A pair of free throws from Kendra Lambert cut the deficit to two before a long ball from Lambert gave Coker a 12-11 lead. Lambert had five points in the quarter. The Jaguars went on a 5-2 run to end the quarter.

The visitors fell victim to a cold second quarter, in which they were outscored 13-7 in the frame and trailed 30-21 at the midway point.

After Augusta stretched their lead to 38-21 in the opening minutes of the third, Coker was able to respond with five unanswered with a Lyric Levester three-point play and a jump shot from Terrika Foster.

Kendra Lambert led all Coker scorers with 14, while Terrika Foster added seven. As a whole, the Coker bench chipped in 31 points, out-scoring that of the Jaguars by five.

The Cobras will hit the hardwood again on Saturday (Dec. 3) when they travel to Lincoln Memorial for a South Atlantic Conference tilt. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
