HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College head women's basketball coach Shannon Johnson is going to be the guest speaker at the South Carolina High School League's Coaches Banquet being held today (Feb. 29) in Columbia, S.C.

The banquet takes place every year during the week of the South Carolina High School basketball state championship games held at Colonial Life Arena on the campus of the University of South Carolina.

"It is such an honor to speak at this year's SCHSL banquet," said Johnson. "Getting to share my knowledge and experiences with those coaches who have an impact on high school student-athletes is very important to me."

A native of Hartsville, Johnson was an All-American and four-time All-SEC selection at the University of South Carolina. In 1996 she was a finalist for the Wade Trophy, awarded to the best player in NCAA Division I. As a professional, she is an Olympic Gold Medalist and seven-time WNBA All-Star.
