Lead Slips Away from Cobras at Newberry

NEWBERRY, S.C.- Coker women's basketball saw a late lead slip away in its 67-60 loss at Newberry on Wednesday (Feb. 24).

Jazz Green notched 20 points and pulled in nine rebounds in the contest.

Coker led 21-17 after one quarter and 33-28 at the half. Coker would lead by at least five at five different times in the third quarter, with it largest lead of the game reaching seven. Newberry would find its second wind in the final frame, outscoring the Cobras 20-11 to seal the conference win.

The Cobras return home on Saturday (Feb. 27) when they host Carson-Newman on Senior Day. In addition it is also Make-A-Wish Day. Fans are encouraged to wear blue in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at the DeLoach Center. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
