WINGATE, N.C.- A late rally from Coker women's basketball fell short as the Cobras lost 61-60 at Wingate on Wednesday (Jan. 6).

Jazz Green and Kiara Shoats each poured in 16 points while Kendra Lambert added 13. The Cobras trailed 19-15 after one frame, and 34-27 at the half. The Cobras outscored the Bulldogs 14-12 in the third quarter, and trailed only by five going to the final frame.

Kendra Lambert started Coker's scoring in the fourth, logging three quick points in the opening minute to cut the deficit to 46-44. With just under eight minutes left the Cobras would take a 49-48 lead when Kiara Shoats fed Jazz Green underneath for two. The Cobras would gain their largest lead of the quarter around the three minute mark when three points from Terrika Foster put Coker up 57-53. The Bulldogs would inch their way back on top, as they carried a four point lead into the dying seconds. Jazz Green dribbled across half court and knocked down a three-pointer as the final buzzer sounded.

The Cobras come home on Saturday (Jan. 9) when they host Mars Hill. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at the DeLoach Center. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
