Cobras Close 2014 with Fourth Straight Non-Conference Win

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The Coker women's basketball team closed out 2014 with a 74-64 non-conference win over the Pfeiffer University Falcons on Saturday (Dec. 20) afternoon. The win was the Cobras fourth straight non-conference victory.

In a tightly contested first half, Coker would go into the break holding a slim, 33-32, lead. The second half would start off close, but with a 45-44 lead, Coker would go on an 8-0 run capped by a Sydney Shull three-pointer to take a decisive lead. The Falcons would put together mini-runs down the stretch, but Coker would make timely shots and clutch free throws to preserve a 10-point victory.

Senior Tanesha Stenson led the way offensively, finishing the game with a team-high 21 points and nine rebounds. Senior Kelley Godbout scored 18 points and pulled down four rebounds, while sophomore Lyric Levester chipped in 10 points and six rebounds. Senior Heidrun Kristmundsdottir paced the offense with five assists.

Coker will take a break from the court for the holidays and return to action after the New Year. SAC foe Brevard College will be the first test of 2015 for the Cobras. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. tip on Saturday (Jan. 3) in Coker's DeLoach Center.
