Cobras Capture 65-58 SAC Win Over Queens

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team captured a 65-58 SAC win over Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday (Jan. 8), at the Timberlake Lawton Gymnasium.  With the win, the Cobras improve to 7-4 on the year, and 5-2 in conference action.

The navy and yellow scored the first points of the game, and never surrendered the lead.  Coker would eventually take a 33-27 lead into halftime.

In the second half the Royals would pull within two points of the Cobras at the 14 minute mark and then again at the 10 minute mark, but Coker's offense would separate each time to make it a two possession game.  Clutch free throw shooting would then help the Cobras hold on to the lead and the win.

Priscilla Fenty was the games leading scorer, with 19 points on the night along with a team high five rebounds.  Tanesha Stenson was next for the Cobras with 16 points, and led the team with four assists.  Jessica Cohen also reached double-digits with 14 points.

Coker will hit the road for their next competition this Saturday (Jan. 11) as they travel to face Anderson in a SAC competition.  Game time is slatted for a 2:00 p.m. start time.
