HARTSVILLE, S.C. – With six seconds left and the Cobras up by just two points, Autumn Lau made the defensive play of the game when she blocked Pfeiffer's Kellie Rhoney as she attempted the game tying lay-up.  Lau was then able to secure the rebound and preserve the 68-66 win as the clock struck zero.

With the win, the Coker women's basketball team improves to 15-10 on the year, and 11-8 in league play.  Pfeiffer drops to 19-5, and 14-5 in the conference.

Both teams showed up ready to play and neither would back down easily as the game had 11 difference lead changes.

Coker sparked a 7-0 run within the first five minutes to take a 13-6 lead, but the Falcons battled back and tied the game at 23 with just four minutes remaining in the half.  A buzzer beating layup from Lau allowed the Cobras to take a slim 31-30 lead into the locker room.

Both teams exchanged buckets in the second half, but it was the 67-percent three point shooting that kept the Cobras in the game.

Pfeiffer closed the gap to a one-point game with 15-minutes remaining, but back-to-back trifectas from Angie Lawrence and Hailey Yohn quickly put Coker back up by seven.  

The Falcons however, would not be discouraged as they again battled back to tie the game at 53 with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation.  The Cobra offense responded when Priscilla Fenty connected on a jump shot, followed by a clutch three from Heidrun Kristmundsdottir.  Within two possessions, Coker was back up 58-53. 

Pfeiffer's persistence fueled a 9-2 run that put the Falcons back on top 62-61 with just 3:30 left.  Lawrence and Fenty would have the last say however, as they proceeded to connected from beyond the arc on 3-of-4 offensive possessions.  The Cobras took a 68-64 lead with just 1:25 remaining. 

Coker's defense then iced the Falcons in the remaining seconds, as Pfeiffer could not put together a comeback.

Lau was the game's leading scorer with 20-points. She also collected the team high eight rebounds and three blocks.  Lawrence was second on the team in scoring with 15,  Followed by Yohn with nine.  

As a team Coker shot 49-percent (29-of-59) from the floor, and 43-percent (9-21) from three-point range.  They grabbed 35-rebounds, and scored 38-points off the bench. 

Coker's next game with is on the road this Saturday (Feb. 23) as they travel to face King University in a Conference Carolinas competition.  The game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.
