Crusaders Oust Cobras 81-71

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team lost 81-71 to North Greenville (7-13, 5-11) on Saturday (Feb. 9) in a Conference Carolinas match.  The Cobras fall to 12-10 on the year, and 8-8 in conference play. 

North Greenville (NGU) jumped ahead of Coker quickly with an 11-4 run within the first five minutes of tip-off.  However, the Cobras responded by shooting 48-percent (12-of-25) from the floor and entered the break only down by six points.

Coker started the second half with a10-4 run, and tied the game at 44-points with a little over 16-minutes remaining in regulation.  However, a three-pointer by NGU's Tyler Powers put the Crusaders back up by three points.  From there, both teams would exchange points as neither team could separate.  Then, with five minutes remaining the Crusaders went on a 16-7 run and put themselves up by 11-points with just 30-seconds remaining.  

Autumn Lau led the Cobras once again in scoring with 24-points on the day.  Lau also pulled down six rebounds, with a game high six blocks.  Amber Lau was second on the team in scoring with 12-points, followed by Jasmine Evans with 11 and Hailey Yohn with ten.  Priscilla Fenty had the game high seven rebounds. 

Coker will continue on the road next week as they travel to face Mount Olive on Wednesday (Feb. 13).  The game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start time.
