Coker Falls the FMU, 68-54

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team lost to Francis Marion University (FMU) on Monday (Dec. 3) by a score of 68-54 in a non-conference competition.  Coker falls to an overall record of 4-2 on the year, while Francis Marion improves to 5-1.

The Cobras started the game quickly, reaching double-digits in just five minutes.  Suddenly, the offense stalled for Coker and the Patriots went on the attack as Francis Marion took a 33-24 lead into the locker room.

Both teams exchanged buckets throughout the second half, but Francis Marion kept control.  The FMU bench proved to be the X-factor for the Patriots, as they contributed 38-points to the scoreboard.

The Cobras struggled from the floor only shooting 29-percent (19-of-64), but were able to keep the game within reach by hitting 9-of-28 three's.

Amber Lau once again lead the Coker offense with a team high 11-points.  She collected nine rebounds and two steals.  Angie Lawrence scored 11 points, while teammate Priscilla Fenty tallied nine points and gobbled up a game high 12-rebounds.

Coker will be looking to bounce back as they return home from a six game road stand and jump back into conference play against Mount Olive on Saturday, December 15.  The ball will hit the hardwood starting at 2 p.m.
