Cobra Women Ready for Conference Carolinas Tournament

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Three games. Three games are all that stand between the Coker women's basketball team and a Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship. Coach Jenny Finora and the Cobra women will begin that journey at North Greenville University on Monday night in the opening round of the conference tournament.

The Cobras finished the regular season with an 11-6 conference record, earning the #3 seed in the East Division. Since January 10, Coker has won 11 of their last 14 games, including their last six in a row.

Coach Finora, along with assistant coach and husband Vic, have led the Cobras to their first appearance in the conference tournament since 2009. On the court, juniors Amber Lau and Jessica Cohen, along with freshman Kelley Godbout and senior Jasmine Alston have been the driving force behind this team's success.

Lau is the Cobras' leading scorer with 18.3 points per game, while Cohen averages 15.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Godbout has come on strong as of late, averaging 10.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Alston has brought leadership and experience to the court, as well as 8.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

In their game on Monday, the Cobra women will take on the #2 seed from the West Division, the Crusaders of North Greenville University. One of two new members of Conference Carolinas this season, the Crusaders will be making their first appearance in the conference tournament. They finished 14-4 in conference play this season, and are led by senior guard Karly Stache with 13.2 points per game.

The Cobras and the Crusaders met once during the regular season, a game that North Greenville won 78-56.

Coker and North Greenville will tip-off at 7 p.m. at North Greenville's Hayes Gymnasium. Fans can follow the action live online with a live video broadcast and live stats. Links to both can be found on www.cokercobras.com.
