Coker's Amber Lau (Mt. Wolfe, Pa.) led a second half surge by the Cobras as they defeated the Pfeiffer Falcons 76-61 in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action. Lau scored 18 of her game high 23 points in the second half.

The first half was fairly even with Pfeiffer taking a three-point lead (28-25) into the locker rooms.  The Falcons offense was dominated by Brittany Cox (Winston-Salem, NC) who had 13 points on her own.  Vontreece Hayes (Greensboro, NC) was a key player down low as she totaled seven rebounds, six of which were defensive.  The Falcon bench contributed for four points, and six total rebounds in the firs half.

Coker had a more balanced attack with junior Jessica Cohen (Ladsen, SC) netting seven points, while junior Lau and freshman Kelley Godbout (Matthews, NC) had five points each.  The same balance was present on the rebounding game for Coker as every player who played in the first half had at least one rebound.  Godbout led the efforts during the first with six total rebounds.

The Cobra's offense clicked in the second half as they were able to outscore the Falcons 51-33.  Lau again led the offense with 18 more points for a total of 23.  Both Cohen and senior Jasmine Alston (Sumter, SC) had eight points in the half.  Coker also held the advantage in rebounds during the second half of play, 20-17.  The Cobras shot an impressive 56.8 percent from the floor in the last 20 minutes, while shooting 43.7 percent overall.

For Pfeiffer, junior Kellie Rhoney (Catawba, NC) took center stage with 12 points in the half for a total of 14.  Cox finished with 18 total points.  Rhoney also tied for Pfeiffer's team lead in rebounds with eight. 

Coker improves to 4-13, 4-4 in conference; while Pfeiffer is now 8-9, 3-5 in conference.  The Cobras' next home match will be Saturday, January 28, at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, N.C. at 12:15 p.m.
