Cobra Women Tame Bobcats 86-68

BANNER Elk, N.C. – The Coker College women's basketball team picked up a decisive 86-68 victory over Lees-McRae College on the road on Saturday. The Conference Carolinas win improves the Cobras to 3-4 in league play.

A trio of players led the Cobras with double digit scoring numbers. Jessica Cohen (Ladsen, S.C.) was the game's leading scorer with 27 points and 11 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the season. Amber Lau (Mt. Wolfe, Pa.) added 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Kelley Godbout (Matthews, N.C.) dropped 19 points.

The Cobras and Bobcats kept things fairly close in the opening half with Coker taking a 40-36 lead into halftime. Coker then had an offensive explosion to start the second half, going on a 21-7 run in the opening seven minutes. The Cobras finished off the half with 46 points and went on to win 86-68.

The Cobras will be back at home for their next game on Tuesday, Jan. 24 against Pfeiffer University. The game, sponsored by Wells Fargo, will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.
