Royals Sneak Past Cobras, 74-72

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Jessica Cohen (Ladsen, S.C.) and Kelley Godbout (Matthews, N.C.) each scored 15 points to pace the Cobra women in their 74-72 loss to Queens University of Charlotte in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action Wednesday night.

An extremely evenly matched game, the Cobras and the Royals found themselves neck and neck in nearly every statistical category. Both teams had 39 rebounds and 17 turnovers, with Queens holding the slight advantage shooting, hitting 47.3 percent from the floor compared to Coker's 42.6 percent. 

The real difference in the game came at the charity stripe where the Royals scored 18 of their points, compared to just eight points from the line for the Cobras.

Cohen and Godbout pulled down seven and six rebounds respectively in addition to scoring 15 points apiece for the Cobras. Hailey Yohn (Durham, N.C.) and Jasmine Alston (Sumter, S.C.) each scored 10 points and Amber Lau (Mt. Wolfe, Pa.) added in nine points. 

For the Royals, Shatonya Hardy had a game high 25 points with six rebounds, while Shonice Pettaway scored 16 points and Sarah Myatt had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Coker will be back on the floor on Saturday when they play their second road game of the week at 2 p.m. against Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.
