Cobra Women Slay the Knights 114-59

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker women's basketball team blew the roof off the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium on Tuesday night defeating the St. Andrews Knights 114-59.  Leading the way were four Cobras with double figure points, including Amber Lau's (Mt. Wolfe, Pa.) game and career high 31 points.

The Cobra women hit the gas early, jumping out to an 8-0 lead in the opening minute of play and they never looked back. They took a 51-25 lead into halftime and poured on another 63 points in the second half.

Lau was the leading scorer with 31 points, while Jessica Cohen (Ladsen, S.C.) had a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. But it was Kelley Godbout (Matthews, N.C.) that stole the show with a double-double off the bench of 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Also scoring in double digits was Hailey Yohn (Raleigh, N.C.) with 12 points, all from beyond the arc.

The Cobras had great ball movement throughout the game as 11 of their 13 players registered a basket. They had a combined 32 assists as a team and had 14 total steals.

Brittany Roberts was the Knights leading scorer with 15 points, while Rachel Hewitt added 14 points and Benee Norton had 10. 

The Cobras return to the court on Saturday when they host the King College Tornado at 2 p.m. in the Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.

McDonald's Player of the Game- Kelley Godbout

Godbout had 18 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.

The McDonald's Player of the Game is presented by the Hartsville McDonald's and is given to the most outstanding performer during each Coker College home athletic event.
