Coker Falls to Local Rival Francis Marion, 58-53

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Three Cobra players notched double figure points, but the Coker women's basketball team fell to local rival Francis Marion University 58-53 on Monday afternoon.

Amber Lau (Mt. Wolf, Pa.) was the Cobras leading scorer with 16 points, 12 of which came from long range. Hailey Yohn (Durham, N.C.) had 11 points and Priscilla Fenty (Hollywood, Fla.) added 10 points.

It was a tough battle for both the Cobras and the Patriots from the opening tip-off.  Coker forced 20 FMU turnovers, while the Patriots out rebounded Coker 37-23.

The Patriots held a narrow three-point lead at the half, 30-27, and Coker continued to keep it close in the second half. The Cobras used a pair of Yohn baskets with two minutes remaining to tie the game at 53, but a Brittany Christian three-pointer with a minute and a half remaining put the Patriots on top for good.

FMU's Daphne Walker was the leading scorer with 14 points, while Carmella Thompson had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Christian finished the night with 13 points. 

Coker will be back in action at home on December 29 against the College of Coastal Georgia. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
