HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Jasmine Alston (Sumter, S.C.) and Megan Thomas (Cresskill, N.J.) accounted for 42 of Coker’s 71 points in the Cobras 71-55 win over Converse College on Friday night in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action.

The Cobras and the Valkyries played a highly physical game as both teams combined for 48 total fouls. There were also a combined 47 turnovers between the two teams.

The game started with a tightly contested first half as Converse took a slim three point lead into halftime, 33-30. Coker then used a 41 point second half, while holding Converse to just 22 points to pick up the 71-55 win in their last game in Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium this season.

Alston scored 22 points, while Thomas dropped 20 on the Valkyries. Both players had four assists, while Alston also grabbed four rebounds. Ashley Thompson (Columbia, S.C.) had the Cobras only double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

For Converse, Katy Vaughan had a double-double of her own with 12 points and 11 rebounds with Tasia Holdorf and Morgan Sacharski each netting 10 points with six and seven rebounds respectively.

Coker will be back on the court again tomorrow for their third game in three days. This one will be on the road as the Cobras travel to Lees-McRae for their final game of the season. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
