LAURINBURG, N.C. – Megan Thomas (Cresskill, N.J.) knocked down a jump shot in the closing seconds to give the Cobras a 69-68 win over the St. Andrews Knights on Thursday night in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball.

Lucy Fish (Nottingham, England) was the game’s leading scorer with 17 points, while Jasmine Alston (Sumter, S.C.) had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures was Ashley Thompson (Columbia, S.C.) with 11 points. Thomas scored eight points including the game-winner, her second such basket this season.

Coker held a narrow three point advantage in the first half 28-25, but St. Andrews bounced back outscoring the Cobras 43-41 in the second half. Even with the second half resurgence, it was Thomas’ that gave Coker a 69-68 victory.

The Cobras return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at home against Pfeiffer University. It will be senior night for the Coker as they will honor seniors Megan Thomas and Maija Castren prior to the tip-off scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
