WILSON, N.C. – Coker’s Jasmine Alston (Sumter, S.C.) scored a team high 16 points in the Cobras 78-42 loss to Barton College in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action on Thursday night. The Bulldogs of Barton were led by a quartet of players scoring 10 plus points in the win.

The Cobras had a difficult night shooting, hitting just 31.8 percent from the field compared to Barton’s 54.08 percent. Coker did make three of six from beyond the arc, but struggled from the charity stripe going 11-for-19 (57.9 percent).

Along with Alston’s 16 points, the reigning Conference Carolinas player of the week, Megan Thomas (Cresskill, N.J.) had seven points, while Ashley Thompson (Columbia, S.C.) had a game high 10 rebounds with five points.

For Barton, Nyeshea Willie and Jamila Johnson each had 13 points with Johnson handing out eight assists. Shante Neal added 11 points and Kelsey Sill had 10 points and four rebounds.

The Cobras will continue to be road warriors for their next game on Saturday at Mount Olive. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
