MARS HILL, N.C. – Megan Thomas (Cresskill, N.J.) and Lucy Fish (Nottingham, England) scored 15 and 11 points respectively in the Coker women’s basketball team’s second loss of the Mars Hill Classic on Saturday night. The Cobras were defeated by the host Mars Hill, 75-46 in their final game of the tournament.
Mars Hill took a sizeable first half lead, 41-25, while the Lions scored just 34 in the second half, with Coker scoring 21 points.
The Cobras shot 30.4 percent from the field in the game, while hitting 70 percent from the charity stripe, compared to Mar Hill shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 53.3 percent from the free throw line.
Jasmine Alston (Sumter, S.C.) and Shanice Cooper (Sumter, S.C.) each had six boards, leading the team in rebounds, with Alston adding five points and three assists.
Mars Hill had four players in double figures, with Margaret Harvey leading the way with 15 points. Brittni Young had 12 points and Taylor Deal and Jocelyn Williams each had 10 points for the Lions.
Coker will return to action after the Thanksgiving holiday when they travel to Conway, S.C. to take on Division I opponent Coastal Carolina on Sunday, November 28.
