ANDERSON, S.C. – The Coker women’s basketball team lost their 15th Conference Carolinas contest of the year on Thursday night, falling to the Trojans of Anderson Unviersity 78-54. The loss drops the Lady Cobras to 3-19 overall and 2-15 in the conference.
Coker committed 29 turnovers leading to 32 Anderson points, while scoring just eight points in the paint in the loss.
The bright spot for Coker was their bench, with 28 of their 54 points coming off the bench.
Just two players scoring in double figures, freshman Cassie Kirby (Charlottesville, Va.) was the leading scorer with career high 16 points, including going 4-for-7 from three point range, while Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland ) had 10 points. Freshman guard Lucy Fish (Nottingham, England) also had a career high with nine points and four rebounds.
The Lady Cobras return home to Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium for their next game on Saturday, Feb. 13 versus Lees-McRae. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
