Hartsville, SC- Temeca Spain (Conway, SC) had a double-double with a game high 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Lotta Aaltonen (Rauma, Finland) had 17 points and five rebounds, including three huge 3-pointers off the bench for the Lady Cobras, as Coker came back from a 14 point half-time deficit, to defeat the Lees-McRae Bobcats 75-59 in women’s collegiate basketball Saturday afternoon. The win improves the Lady Cobras to a 4-14 overall, and 3-8 in Conference Carolinas play, while Lees-McRae falls to 4-12 overall, and 3-7 in the conference.

Coker entered the second half down 41-27, and proceeded to use a tenacious full court press to hold the Lady Bobcats to just 18 points in the half. Coker was 18-for-35 from the field, 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and 7-for-8 from the charity stripe in the second half, while Lees-McRae shot just 30 percent, 6-for-20 from the field, was  1-for-4 from 3-point range and 5-for-6 from the free throw line in the second half.

Besides Spain and Aaltonen, Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland) netted 12 points with six rebounds and a pair of assists for the Lady Cobras, while Megan Thomas (Cresskill, NJ) just missed scoring in double figures with seven points and five assists.

For Lees-McRae, the Roberson sisters led the way with Brittany scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds, while sister Renee had 13 points and two rebounds. Stephanie Mullinax had 11 points and seven rebounds in the game.

Both teams return to the court on Monday, as Coker travels to Anderson and Lees-McRae hosts Erskine. Tip-offs for both games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
