Hartsville, SC- Coker snapped a three game skid on Monday night as they defeated the Falcons of Pfeiffer University, 81-67 in women’s Conference Carolinas collegiate basketball. The win brings the Cobras up to a 3-13 record overall, and 2-7 in the conference, while Pfeiffer drops to 6-9 overall, and 3-5 in the conference.

It was an evenly matched game through the first half of play with Pfeiffer leading 45-40 going into the break, but the Lady Cobras found the shooters touch in the second half, out scoring the Falcons by 19 points. Coker’s keys to victory were their points of the bench and off turnovers. The Cobras had 34 points from the bench, 27 of which came from Rebecca Kolbeck (Santa Paula, CA) and Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland), and they turned 25 Pfeiffer turnovers into 28 points.

Temeca Spain (Conway, SC) was the game high scorer with 24 points from down low for the Cobras. Spain was 8-for-10 from the charity stripe and had a pair of rebounds and assists. Kolbeck had 17 points and six rebounds, going 7-for-11 from the floor and Koponen had 10 points and four rebounds in the game.

Pfeiffer was led by Ashelle Athill with 18 points and four rebounds, while Kalee Smith had 15 points and eight rebounds.

Coker returns to the court on Thursday, as they travel to St. Andrews for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off, while Pfeiffer host Anderson also at 5:30 p.m.
