Hartsville, SC- The Coker Lady Cobras won their first Conference Carolinas game of the season, as they came from behind to defeat the Flying Fleet of Erskine College, 73-67. The win improves Coker’s record to 2-10 overall, and 1-4 in the conference, while Erskine falls to 0-9 overall, and 0-4 in the conference.

Erskine jumped out an early lead and looked to be in control going into the half with a 42-32 lead. Erskine held that lead into the second half, but the Cobras would not be shut down battling all the way back to finally tie the game at 54-54 with just eight minutes remaining. Coker then went on a six point run to take their first lead of the game. Erskine cut the lead to just one with only 3:41 left in the game, but the Cobras were able to fight off the Fleet’s attack and eventually win the game 73-67.

Leading the way for Coker was the Finland connection with Lotta Aaltonen (Rauma, Finland) scoring 20 points with six rebounds and four assists, while Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland) had 15 points, two rebounds and two assists. Temeca Spain (Conway, SC) had 14 points and three rebounds with two assists.

For the Fleet, Audrey Timmerman had 16 points, going 4-for-7 from 3-point range, with a pair of rebounds and assists. Also scoring 16 points was Mary Ann Langford, while adding four assists and two rebounds. Karen Anger added 13 points and a pair of rebounds, with Neci Allen netting 11 points with three rebounds.

Coker returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to face Conference Carolinas foe Belmont Abbey at 2:00 p.m., while Erskine travels to Pfeiffer University.
