Hartsville, SC- The Coker Lady Cobras were unable to get their first Conference Carolinas of the season on Saturday in women’s collegiate basketball, as they fell to the Limestone Lady Saints 82-71. The win improves Limestone to 7-6 overall, and 2-1 in conference play, while the Lady Cobras dropped to 1-10 overall, and 0-4 in the conference.

Limestone jumped out to an early lead and did not let up, as Coker never tied the Saints or held a lead throughout the game. Thanks to the Saints six players with double figures, Limestone was able to hold a 36-20 lead at the half, but was out scored 51-46 in the second half.

Leading Coker were Kenya McCarthan (Hardeeville, SC), Lotta Aaltonen (Rauma, Finland) and Henna Koponen (Vantaa, Finland). McCarthan led all scorers with 17 points and four rebounds, while the Cobras Finland connection had a combined 29 points, with Aaltonen picking up 16 and Koponen getting 13. Aaltonen got 12 of her points from beyond the arc, going 4-for-8 from 3-point land.

Limestone’s Shelly Robinson, Essence Greer and Addie Graves each scored 13 points, with Graves pulling down nine rebounds and Robinson going 4-for-4 from 3-point range. Lindsey Kyle and Ariel Lyons each scored 11 points, with Lyons collecting the double-double with 10 rebounds, while adding four assists and Monica Adams chipped in 10 points for the Saints.

Coker returns to the court on Monday, as they host Erskine College at 5:30 p.m., while Limestone will host Anderson at home on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
