Hartsville, SC- In the final seconds of regulation, India Elliot grabbed a missed three-pointer and put home the rebound to send the Coker versus Anderson women’s basketball game into overtime. Unfortunately for the Cobras, overtime came down to the closing seconds as well, and in the end Anderson came out on top in a final score of 75-74. Coker falls to 6-18 overall, and 4-13 in the CVAC, while Anderson improves to 20-3 overall, and 14-2 in the CVAC.

 

Tonight’s game was the first overtime game for the Lady Cobras all season and it could not have come against a tougher opponent, as Anderson is tied for first place in the CVAC.

 

The Cobras keys to success tonight came from their points off turnovers, 17 compared to Anderson’s 11, and their three-point shots, Coker had 18 points from beyond the arc, Anderson had zero.

 

The Trojans had their own keys to winning, which included dominating the boards, 55 to 34, along with getting 12 points from their bench, compared to Coker’s seven.

 

Leading the Cobras were Elliot and Lotta Aaltonen. Elliot had 22 points and six rebounds, while Aaltonen had 20 points and three rebounds. Rebecca Kolbeck and Henna Koponen also scored in double figures, with Kolbeck netting 12 points and Koponen tallying 11 points.

 

The Trojan’s Deidra Langston had 28 points and seven rebounds to lead the way, while Keana Boyd had 22 points and four rebounds. Shadae Thompson was the only other Trojan in double figures, scoring 12 points with three rebounds.

 

Coker returns to the floor on Wednesday as they travel to Limestone for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
