SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba got 14 points each from Hillary Hampton (Salisbury, NC) and Tamekia Foster (Chesapeake, VA) and defeated visiting Coker 73-58 in women’s basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Gym. The Catawba Indians claim their eight straight win, improving to 8-1. The Cobras fall to 1-5.

Catawba overcame an early 8-2 deficit, using a 15-2 run to grab a 17-10 advantage at the 8:49 mark. A pair of three-pointers by Cameron Clark (Albemarle, NC) keyed the run with the first putting the Tribe up for good at 10-9 with 13:43 left. Catawba held a 35-21 edge at the break.

The Lady Indians opened the second half with a 15-4 run to take control. Hampton opened the half with a three-point play and Foster added three baskets for a 44-23 lead. Catawba held a comfortable margin the rest of the way and led 66-42 with 6:17 remaining.

Corin Muldrow (Jacksonville, NC) also reached double figures with 10 off the bench. Henna Koponen (Vantaa, FINLAND) and Lotta Aaltonen (Rauma, FINLAND) led Coker with 10 points apiece. Catawba shot just 38% from the field, but hit 18-of-21 at the line. The Lady Indians also helped force 27 Cobra turnovers.
