Hartsville, SC- Coker College Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Carol Meegan, announced the signing of three more players to National Letters of Intent to play basketball for the Cobras in the fall of 2006. Laice Lane, Agne Stanciauskaite and Robin Covington will each sport the navy and gold Coker uniform in the coming season.

Lane is a native of Yemassee, SC, where she was a three sport athlete at Thomas Hayward Academy, excelling in volleyball, softball and basketball. She had the privilege to play for Coach Meegan for three years while at Thomas Hayward, before Meegan came to Coker last year. “I am very excited to have Laice join me here at Coker,” said Meegan, “She is a great player and she will be an asset to Coker both on and off the court, plus she already knows my style of playing having played for me for three years in high school.” Lane averaged 14.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game during the 2005-2006 season and was named Player of the Year. She was a first team All-Region IV selection, the recipient of the R.T. Bob Thompson Award and a SCISA Scholar Athlete.

Agne Stanciauskaite or “AG” for short, adds another international student to the 2006-2007 Coker Women’s Basketball Team. She is a native of Silute, Lithuania, but she has most recently attended Holy Cross Regional School in Virginia. While at Holy Cross she was a member of the 2006 Blue Ridge Championship Team, as well as a member of the 2006 Virginia State Championship team. AG, along with her fellow international students are bringing international basketball to the CVAC, Coker Style.

Covington comes to Coker from Sumter, SC, were she was a four year letter winner for the Sumter High basketball team. She has been listed on the National Honor Roll and is listed in Who’s Who among American High School Students. While on the basketball team, she was named Defensive MVP on Girl’s Varsity team all four years.

Coach Meegan is very excited to have each one of these girls join her squad and according to her, “Each one of these young ladies is going to be an asset to the Coker College community. I look forward to seeing each of them being successful both on the basketball court and in the classroom.”
