DUE WEST, SC – The Lady Fleet wrapped up regular season play with a 75-52 rout of Coker College in Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon in Belk Arena. Erskine finishes the regular season 16-11 overall, 13-7 in the conference. Coker falls to 5-20, 6-13.

Coker’s Ashley White opened up the scoring just over one minute into the game, but that would be the Cobras only lead of the night. Senior Anita Owens sank two “threes” on the next possession to put the Fleet on top, 3-2. Coker knotted the score twice (4-4 and 18-18), but trailed by nine at the break, 37-28.

Senior Chacee Whittington sank a shot from downtown to cap off a 9-4 run by the Fleet and give Erskine a 14 point advantage, 46-32 with 16 minutes to go. The Fleet pushed their lead to as many as 26 late in the half before taking the 75-52 victory.

Owens paced the Fleet with 18 points. Melissa Woods sank four of five from downtown in the first half to put up 12 for the afternoon. The senior point guard also dished at 8 assists. Whittington netted 11 points and grabbed a team high 8 boards, while senior Garreth Smoak chipped in 10 points.

The Cobras were led by Tara Nelson (18) and Rachel Kolbeck (14). Tyesha Ervin added 12 more.

The Lady Fleet earn a bye in the first round of the conference tournament and will host the second round on Wednesday, March 1st at 7:00pm in Belk Arena.
