Hartsville, SC- The Coker Women’s Basketball Team broke their two game winning streak with a 73-64 loss to the Mount Olive Trojans Monday night in collegiate basketball. Coker now drops to 4-11 on the season, and 4-6 in the CVAC, while the Trojans improve to 10-6 overall, and 5-4 in the CVAC.

 

Coker could not seem to get its offense on a roll, shooting only 40 percent from the floor for the game, and shooting only 25 percent from beyond the arc. Mount Olive used successful rebounding, 42 total rebounds to Coker’s 32 and an early lead, Mount Olive lead by 13 at the half, and by as much as 22 in the beginning of the second half, to secure victory over the Cobras.

 

Coker’s leading scorer was Tara Nelson, with a game high 19 points and six rebounds. Tyesha Ervin had an excellent game, scoring a season high 17 points and shooting three for four from the free throw line. Junior India Elliott also added 13 points to the Coker attack.

 

The Trojan offense was lead by Anita Rogers with 18 points and four rebounds, while Teneal Boone added 13 points and eight rebounds. Meaghan Vanderhorst gave the Trojans a solid 10 point performance off the bench as well.

 

The Lady Cobras return to action on Thursday, January 26, as they travel to Anderson University. The game will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
