HARTSVILLE, SC — Coker closed out the regular season with a disappointing 72-60 loss at Queens University of Charlotte Saturday evening in women’s basketball.  The Cobras (8-19, 4-16) shot only 29 percent in the loss and lost the rebounding battle 56-40.

Coker scored 16 first-half points on 21 percent shooting but couldn’t slow the Royals down and trailed 33-16 at the break.  The scoring picked up in the second half but CC’s poor start proved too much to overcome.

After only seven free throws in the first period the teams combined for 49 attempts after halftime.  Queens attacked the basket and put Coker’s frontcourt in foul trouble with Shamae Hemingway, Michelle Glover and Ashley White totaling 13 fouls.

Hemingway paced the Cobras with 18 points and 11 rebounds and Glover finished with 12 points and five boards.  Five Queens players reached double digit scoring with Erinn Hayes’ 14 points leading the way.  Hayes also had 10 rebounds and Maggie Austin contributed 12 points and 16 boards as well.

With the completion of the regular season Coker will now travel to Mt. Olive on Monday night, February 28, for a 7:00 PM contest against the Trojans.  Mt. Olive finished as the seventh seed in the CVAC Tournament with the Cobras taking the 10th spot.
