HARTSVILLE, SC — Coker faltered down the stretch at Mt. Olive Thursday evening, falling 61-50 in women’s collegiate basketball.  The Cobras cut a 12 point MOC lead down to 41-39 with 7:20 to play were unable to finish the game strong as the Trojans pulled away in the final minutes.

Coker (5-15, 2-11) trailed 27-19 at the break and the lead grew to 33-21 early in the second half.  The Cobras responded with a 9-0 run to pull within three points and stayed close over the next few minutes. 

When freshman Ashley Brooks/Hillsborough, NC connected from long range CC got within two points but it would be as close as the team would get.  Mt. Olive scored seven unanswered points to create some breathing room and held off the Cobras down the stretch.

Senior Shamae Hemingway/Conway, SC recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and freshman point guard Tyesha Ervin/Darlington, SC added 10 points, four rebounds and five assists.

The Trojans, who shot 42 percent from the field, were led by Melanie Cobb’s 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Teneal Boone contributed 11 points and 12 boards and Latoria Harvey added 12 points and nine rebounds. With that trio acting as window cleaners MOC held a slight 39-37 on the glass.

Coker will take on Belmont Abbey Saturday afternoon, February 12, at 2:00 PM in Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium.
