Men's Track Competes at Gamecock Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Coker men's track and field team had several strong performances at the Gamecock Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina on Saturday (Apr 16).

Senior Mahliqe Andrews ran a 1:56.41 in the 800 meters to finish in 7th place to lead the Cobras. Luke Baker finished in 13th in the javelin throw with a distance of 37.34 meters.

Sophomore Arat Joanico-Gonzalez finished in 12th place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:17.59, edging out teammate Austin Bates' 4:30.72 in 15th place. Freshman Josh Zeigler finished in 18th with a time of 4:45.69.

Sophomores Austin Simpkins and Kristoffer Persen took home 26th and 30th in the 400 meter dash with times of 51.55 and 52.08 respectively. Tyler McCoy finished in 16th place of the 110 meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 15.76. Jeremil German finished in 40th with a 22.18 in the 200 meter dash.

Davion Sebree posted a 10.92 in the 100 meter dash, good enough for 12th place while teammate Aaron Hughes' 11.08 finished in 19th. The 4x100 team of Davion Sebree, Kristoffer Persen, Austin Simpkins, and Jerimil German took 13th with a 41.90. The 4x400 team of Austin Simpkins, Mahliqe Andrews, Kristoffer Persen, and Jerimil German finished in 9th with a time of 3:25.56.
