Murishi Irankunda Sets Coker Record; Wins Triple Jump at SAC Indoor Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Coker University men's track and field team finished the indoor season on a strong note at the SAC Indoor Conference Championships on Sunday (Mar. 1) by setting several personal best times.

Dre Litsey got things going for the Cobras with a new personal record in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.20. Sage Lilly finished in third place in the 400m by running a mark of 49.89. Frederick Thompson came in eighth place by running a 52.77. Tony McElveen Jr. (6.88) came in fourth place in the 60m finals. Alex Berry came in eighth place in the high jump with a distance of 1.80m, while Litsey finished at 1.75m.

The story of the day took place in the triple jump where Murishi Irankunda set a new Coker school record with a distance of 14.36, winning the event.

"We had a lot of great individual performances and we are happy to increase both team totals from a year ago," said coach Pete Early. "We will look to build off of the many personal bests and school records as we head into outdoor season."

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 20) when they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Live results can be found at www.cokercobras.com.
