Coker Men's 4x400 Relay Team Sets Coker Record at S. Carolina Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Coker University men's track and field team completed the South Carolina Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 8) in Columbia, S.C. It was another good weekend for the Cobras with several personal bests and a record time set.

On day one, Davion Sebree finished eighth in the 60m with a time of 7.00, which was a personal best. Antuan Crowder (7.04) and Andre Merritt (7.19) also set personal best times. The Cobras excelled in the 400m, as Will Mosley (51.13) and Allen Hill (52.72) set personal best times, while Murishi Irankunda (51.64) recorded a seasonal best mark. Irankunda also jumped a distance of 6.45m in the long jump. In the 60 hurdles, Jamikal Pena ran a 9.11.

The Cobras ran well in the 200m, as four personal best times were set. Antuan Crowder led the way, running a personal best of 22.53 while Davion Sebree was not far behind at 23.15. Chirlo' K. Phillips (23.18), Andre Merritt (23.28), and Zaccaeus Beasley (24.02) all finished with personal records. Seraphin Kibonge (23.27), and Trevon Smith (25.54) were other notable finishers. Dre Litsey performed well in the high jump, recording a distance of 1.83m.

The story of the day was the men's 4x400 relay team consisting of Mahari Greene, Frederick Thompson, Wilhemson Jean-Pierre, and Sage Lilly that set a new Coker record with a time of 3:17.24, four seconds better than the previous record.

"I am very proud of how we competed this weekend," said coach Pete Early. "The 200 group really set the tone for how the rest of the day unfolded."
