
Mumford Claims Individual Title, 4x400 Crew Tabs New Record Time
Cobras put the last turn on their final tuning before the SAC Championships
ELON, N.C.- The Coker College men's track and field team had a successful day at the Phoenix Invitational in Elon, N.C. on Saturday (April 14), featuring Jarrel Mumford as an Individual Medalist in the 100-meter dash and the 4x400-meter team claiming a new program record.
Jarrell Mumford cruised to a first place finish and Individual title in the 100-meter dash on Saturday with the sixth-fastest time at Coker in 10.95 seconds. Tony McElveen Jr. followed closely behind with a fifth place finish at the 11.11 mark, tenth-fastest at Coker.
The 4x400-meter team of Mahari Greene, Will Mosley, Jarrell Mumford and Brandon Mullins set a new Navy and Gold program record with a 3:18.32 third place finish.
Mullins, Mosely, Razzel Kiplaget and Murish Irankunda all participated in the 400-meter race, placing 9th-12th respectively. Mullins' and Mosley's times of 50.38 and 50.41 mark the fifth and sixth-best times for Coker.
Lastly, Richelieu Valery and Derrian Moreau ran in the 110-meter hurdles, placing fourth and seventh overall in times of 15.71 and 16.27 seconds. Valery's time is the sixth-fastest in Coker history.
The Cobras will next compete in the South Atlantic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 20-21 located in Hickory, N.C. Results can be found by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
