Chebii Wins Individual Title, Three Cobras Set School Records at CSU Spring Invitational

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C.- The Coker College men's track and field team traveled to North Charleston, S.C. to take on their second outdoor event of the season at the Charleston Southern University Spring Break Invitational on Friday, March 16. Jacob Chebii secured an individual title, while three other Cobras set new school records. 

Sage Lilly, Jerell Mumford, and Mahari Greene all competed in the 200-meter dash. Lilly finished in third in the time of 21.8 seconds, which set a new school record. Mumford and Greene placed ninth and 10th in times of 22.29 and 22.46 seconds.

Brandon Mullins ran a 4:07.91 in the 1500-meter, winning his section, while setting a new program record.

Kace Faulkner obliterated his previous record set in the hammer throw, throwing for a distance of 149' 7". This is now the highest mark in Coker history.

Jacob Chebii brought home an individual title in the 5000-meter race, crossing the line in 16:14.90, the third fastest time in school history.

Tony McElveen Jr. ran in the men's 100-meter preliminary race and finished third in 11.04 seconds. He qualifies to run in the finals tomorrow, Saturday, March 17.

Greene placed seventh in the 400-meter event in 51.74 seconds.

Kamiam McClain took on the preliminary 110-meter hurdles and finished eighth in 15.64, qualifying for the finals. McClain also ran in the 400-meter hurdles, claiming third place in a time of 1:02.34.
