2016-17: Smith had two top-ten finishes on the season, both coming in the pole vault. He finished fourth at the Lenoir-Rhyne Southside Power & Fitness Invitational and finished seventh at the South Atlantic Conference Championship with a record-setting height of 12' 6".
High School: Smith attended Mapleton High School where he wrestled and ran track and cross country for the Mounties. On the track, he was a pole vault regional qualifier.
Personal: Son of John Smith Sr. and Marlene Rhoades... he has two siblings Jerrica Smith and Savana Fury... Jerrica plays lacrosse at Grace College.
